Welcome to the Galilee Griggs Memorial District Association.
Welcome to the website of the Galilee Griggs Memorial District Association of Baptist Churches. We are one the oldest District Associations in the State of Texas. Our mission is to assist member churches in the field of education, training and outreach. Our goal is to make bigger and better strides in winning souls for Christ throughout all of Texas and abroad. While the message will never change, our methods must reflect that of the 21st century. We are continually improving this website. If you have any questions or comments please contact us.
History of the Galilee Griggs Memorial District Association of Baptist Churches
The Galilee Griggs Memorial District Association is the outcome of the combination of two Associations. The Galilee Association was organized September 1929 at the Galilee Baptist Church in Ennis, Texas, and took its name after the Galilee Baptist Church in which the Association was organized. Rev. E.A. Evans was the pastor of the Galilee Baptist Church. Rev. S.T. Alexander was elected Moderator of the Galilee Association and Mrs. Carrie P. Hines was elected President of the Woman's Convention of the Galilee Baptist District Woman's Convention. The Griggs Memorial Baptist District Association was organized August, 1929 at the Hopewell Baptist Church in Denison, Texas. Rev. R.M. Gilbert was the pastor of Hopewell Baptist Church. The Griggs Memorial Association was given its name in honor of Dr. A.R. Griggs who pastured the Hopewell Baptist Church for many. Rev. M.B. Bilbrew was elected Moderator of the Griggs Memorial Baptist District Association. Mrs. Pinkie Dillard was elected President of the Woman's Convention of the Griggs Memorial District Woman's Convention.
